July 6 – 13, 2024
Experience Alpe di Siusi, Sassolungo and Sassopiatto and circle the Marmolada. And all of this on a tour with moderate daily stages and on less difficult paths? This is possible during this week.
On Saturday we meet in the afternoon down at the lower station of the Alpe di Siusi and go up together. Once at the top, we walk the short distance to the Rifugio Dibaita, our accommodation for today.
On Sunday we start at the Alpe di Siusi with a relaxed day tour to break in and then return once again to our starting point. This gives us the opportunity to check the equipment for completeness and functionality.
On Monday, it’s getting serious :), we start our tour and cross the Alpe di Siusi towards Sassopiatto – there we also spend the night at the recently renovated Sassopiatto Hut (approx. 4.30 h walking time, 700 hm ascent, 400 hm descent).
Tuesday starts with a great view on the Friedrich-August-Weg – we walk up to Col Rodella, take the cable car downhill and go up again towards Marmolata to Rifugio Contrin (approx. 5.30 hrs. walking time, 900 hm. total ascent, 200 hm. descent).
Continuing on Wednesday around the Marmolata: we move on the south side of the Marmolata and hike to Malga Ciapela. The path takes us across the border of the province of Trentino / Alto Adige into the province of Veneto. In the descent we are in “marmot country”, and we can also see old war remains from the 1st World War. (approx. 6 hours walking time, approx. 700 hm ascent, approx. 1,200 hm descent).
After this longer hike, on Thursday morning we first take the bus up to the RIfugio Fedaia. From there we walk along the panoramic Bindelweg (Vie del Pan), always with a view of the Marmolata, and then descend to Passo Pordoi, from which the Sella already beckons from the other side (approx. 4.30 hrs. walking time, 600 hm. ascent, 400 hm. descent).
Our final hike on Friday starts again with the bus to Passo Sella , where Sassolungo and Sassopiatto are waiting for us to walk the second part of the circumnavigation. Accordingly, we turn northward ands walk along the impressive Dolomite rock until we arrive back at the Alpe di Siusi and return to the Rifugio Dibaita (approx. 6 hrs walking time, 600 hm ascent, 800 hm descent).
