February 16 – 18, 2024
A new tour on a long weekend exclusively for women! We’ll do a three day hike on the Baudensteig between Bad Lauterberg and Walkenried. This long weekend is for all women who want to get fit before the season for the mountains, try long-distance hiking for a couple of days with a backpack or simply want to hike in good company.
The timing is deliberate – get off the sofa and out of the warm living room into nature and enjoy the winter freshness and plenty of exercise! The lengths of the stages are adapted to the season so that we don’t have to hurry.
Winter in the Harz Mountains is a real grab bag: from sunny, cold weather to a light blanket of snow to a deep snow-covered winter landscape, anything can happen. The plan is that we can hike in regular hiking boots and, if necessary, with spikes (more about this in the preparation meeting or in the packing list).
The Baudensteig in the southern Harz mountains is one of the long-distance hiking trails with moderate day trails and is therefore also suitable for short days in winter. Our walking times are around 5 hours on all three days, covering approx. 17 km and a maximum of 500 metres in altitude both up and down. Large parts of the stages are gravelled – what can be monotonous and exhausting in summer makes walking much easier in winter.
We stay in simple hotels in Bad Sachsa and Wieda, each in double rooms, single rooms on request and only possible in limited numbers.
The start and end points of the hike are easy to reach by train – so it is also advisable to travel by public transport.
