October 5 – 12, 2024

The place of longing for many of us – Lake Garda. Famous for water sports and its diverse landscapes. In many places, Lake Garda is still an insider tip for hikers. The mild climate around the lake makes extended tours possible well into the autumn. We take advantage of this for the last big multi-day tour of the year. We hike around Lake Garda to its east. We start in Peschiera and finish the tour in Riva. During the hike, we cross the Monte-Baldo-Massiv and enjoy wonderful views of the lake and the west side.

The tour is moderately difficult in terms of both fitness and technique, with a tendency towards a leisurely tour. Only the first day has a walking time of more than 6 hours (having a flat altitude profile). We spread the ascent to the Monte Baldo massif over two days, and we also do the descent in stages.

Saturday, October 5, 2024
Meeting in the late afternoon – evening in Peschiera del Garda. Overnight stay / breakfast at Locanda Dogana in double and triple rooms. Joint dinner and tour briefing.

Sunday, October 6, 2024- Peschiera to Torri di Benaco
The longest and least difficult tour of the week – our lakeside stage to get started: 27 km, max. 300 metres in altitude, always along the water, the last section on the slope above the lake. Overnight stay / breakfast at Hotel Eden.

Monday, October 7, 2024 – Torri di Benaco to Prada
The first part of the ascent to the Monte Baldo massif, approx. 1,000 metres in ascent, 14 km, 5.30 hours walking time. We leave sea level and enter the world of wide and deep views. We spend the night in a simple hotel in Prada.

Tuesday, October 8, 2024 – Prada to Rifugio Telegrafo
And the second part of the ascent – up to the ridge of the Monte Baldo massif, approx. 1,300 metres in ascent, 12 km and 5.30 hr walking time. The ascent is steady and moderately steep – but just ascending…

Wednesday, October 9, 2024 – Rifugio Telegrafo to the northern ridge of the Monte Baldo massif
Today is the big Monte Baldo traverse. The first half requires surefootedness and a certain amount of a head for heights, as the crossing always follows the ridge. The day on which good weather is an absolute must in order to enjoy the sweeping views! Depending on ouur accommodation, we will be out and about for around 5.30 hours and 15 km, with around 500 metres of ascent and 1,100 metres of descent (subject to change).

Thursday, October 10, 2024 – North ridge Monte-Baldo to Malga Campei
A relaxed tour that takes us towards Riva. On this day, we walk approx. 10 km – with 500 metres of ascent and 700 metres of descent, with a total walking time of approx. 4 hours. The malga is situated on a plateau with a marvellous view and is known for its local dishes. Overnight stay in a shared accomodation (exclusively for us, depending on the number of participants).

Friday October 11, 2024 – Malga Campei to Riva del Garda
The last day of the tour takes us more than 1,400 metres in descent over 15 km (approx. 5 hours walking time) down to Riva del Garda. On the way, we pass impressive remains of fortifications from the First World War. In Riva, we round off the tour with a good meal and spend the night in the centre of town at the Hotel Gabry (double room).

In the morning we have breakfast together, then depart individually.
